Internet Marketing Article: Passion And Profits Are Not Always Connected

If you have had the fortune or curse to collect the many ebooks and free reports regarding internet marketing online, then you have probably seen on numerous occasions, people stressing the importance of delving into a niche that you are passionate about.

There is of course a lot of truth to that. In the same way that it is a nightmare to get up and go to a job you hate, building a website or blogging about something that you could not care less about can be a formula for disaster. If you cannot find the motivation to get interested then the chances are strong you will stop putting forth any meaningful effort. It is not too long before you just quit altogether.
This happens to many would be marketers who are just looking for a fast check. The get rich scheme has had new life breathed into it thanks to the internet but the bottom line is it still comes down to the person. If they were looking for the fast buck online, you can believe they were searching for the same thing in the offline world.

So you find a niche that you are all fired up about. You build a website/blog, start writing great content on a consistent basis, monetize your site and max out your advertising budget in the hopes of driving like minded visitors or even ones that are slightly curious to your webpages.

And the result? Nothing. Oh maybe you get a clickthrough here and there but nothing like you expected. The weeks stretch into months and you still have nothing to really show for it. The worst part is that even those sporadic clickthroughs you were getting have come to an end.

Yes this scenario gets played out almost daily on the internet. For many people it is quite disheartening to work on something you care about deeply only to fall way short of the desired outcome. Has this caused many passionate entrepreneurs to throw in the towel? No question.

The bottom line is their must be an audience already available to take a look at what you have to offer. No it does not have to be a massive audience. For instance the word movie is searched on close to 3 million times per month. That is a lot of competition but within that general phrase is a lot of room to target a smaller but still profitable niche. Something like silent movie or even drive in movie theater.

It will not hurt if you have a certain passion about drive in theaters but is it vital to the success of your business? No. Many top internet marketers do quite well promoting a niche they have no expertise or real interest in. It is perfect reasonable for you to follow the same path.

So do not get too hung up about how passionate you are about a certain niche. Going back to our nine to five analogy, you may work at a job you hate (don't most of us?) but you still go to work and do the best you can. Whether the work gets done today or tomorrow does not trigger any passionate drive in you but you are a professional who likes to get paid!

Keep these things in mind when trying to make money on the web. Having a passion for what you are doing makes the job easier and the rewards that much sweeter but a pro is still a pro. If you have done your homework and located a target market then by all means promote the product.
