10 Viral Internet Marketing Strategies That Produce A Massive Surge of Web Site Traffic and Sales

1. Start a newsletter that people can subscribe to, and use an autoresponder service like GetResponse (www.getresponse.com) or Aweber (www.aweber.com) to capture and store your subscribers' contact information.

2. Use the double-opt rather than single opt-in method to capture qualified targeted leads. Why? Because double opt-in requires new subscribers to confirm their subscription (yes, I want what you have to offer) and reduces the chances of a bounced email.

3. Refer people to your web page that offers them a freebie (free report, ebook, etc.), capture their name, email address & phone number (optional) and then take them to your home page while behind the scenes your autoresponder provides a series of follow-up emails to them automatically, re-introducing yourself and your business offer. Studies show that most people need to see your offer at least 7 times before they make a decision to purchase.

4. Include a headline & outline the features/benefits of the product or service you are offering on your web site. Make it easy for your audience to understand what they will gain by buying from you.

5. Include written testimonials from people who have used your product or service on your web site. Include audio testimonials that prospects can listen to and you will really capture their attention.

6. Let your "personality" come across in your newsletters. Allow your subscribers to know who you are and what you are about. Keep it real and be honest with them. By establishing trust and credibility with your prospects, you will greatly increase the return on your investment in time and money.

7. Be sure to include plenty of informational articles on your web site that focus on educating your visitors. Add or replace older articles with new ones on your web site each month. Keep you web site content fresh and exciting to your viewing audience. The more content you have the better. Search engines tend to rank sites higher that have a good deal of content and good content keeps your visitors or prospects coming back for more.

8. Write an informational article about a topic related to your business and post it on your web site. Include an "About The Author" resource box at the bottom of the article that includes your name, company, telephone number, address, web site link and your permission to re-print and use your article on their web site or e-zine as long as your resource box remains intact. Submit your article to web sites like http://www.ezinearticles.com and watch your web site traffic increase substantially.

9. Include a "Refer a Friend" section on your web site and add a hyperlink to this in your newsletter. This gives your visitors and subscribers and opportunity to share your URL with others. Most autoresponder packages make it easy to do this.

10. Start your own affiliate program using an affiliate management solution like AssocTRAC (www.assoctrac.com). Promote your new affiliate program on your web site or newsletter. Watch as you recruit a global sales force eagerly willing to promote what you have to offer. They send you a paying customer and you cut them a commission check. It's as simple as that.

You could also make your articles available for them to publish in their ezines or on their websites with their affiliate URLs in your resource box.

6. Add a bonus for purchasing from you.

Your bonus could be ebooks, a resource that your visitors can use to promote their businesses, or you could provide your customers with a consultation with you.

9. Answer your visitors' questions quickly and in a professional and friendly way.

Some of your visitors may have a lots of questions about your service. Be sure to offer detailed answers to them.

10. Write articles.

Writing articles is an excellent way for you to get more traffic to your site.

Writing articles will also help you to get more new subscribers to your ezine as your articles will give your readers a sneak peak at the quality content that they can expect from you.

9 Pointers for Evaluating a Business Proposal

Finding a business opportunity on the net is easy. But evaluating the right one for you, takes a little knowledge. With so many scams, takers and failed ventures you need a little more than the, "highest dollar for the least amount of work" approach. So what should you look for when evaluating an opportunity? Here are 9 pointers.

1. Is it legal?

Do they have a product? Many programs on the net are simply "money movers" with no real products. If this is the case then it's probably illegal simple as that. If you are serious about developing an online reputation for quality and reliability, then don't even entertain the idea of quick easy money. It will catch up with you!

Do they know and follow the law concerning matters such as CAN SPAM and other website legalities? There is no excuse for ignorance on the net! Do your home work and check out:

http://www.wilsonweb.com/wmt9/canspam_comply.htm

http://www.ipcgold.com/ad/112/CD996

Do a search on the names of the owners and founders of the products.

2. Does their product have value and advantage?

Is the product something that people want with the potential for repeat sales giving value for money at a competitive price? Do your homework. Search the net for equivalent products and do a price comparison. Does it offer a marketing advantage of some kind? What are the selling benefits of the product over their competitors? If they don't have a marketing advantage why would anyone buy their products?

3. Is it residual?

The best opportunities are the ones that have a growing industry and ideally repeat sales. Make sure if you are marketing a product that you get the benefit of the repeat sales. This is called residual income. If you are expected to find customers but only get the benefit of the first sale, this is unethical and unfair. It is a good idea to evaluate what % is paid back in commissions for the cost of the product or service. All good opportunities pay back an absolute minimum of 20%. Decide you are worth at least that much to them.

4. How long will it pay?

The world is a fast changing place. The cyberworld is even faster! Ask yourself where will the product be in 12 months, 2, and 5 years down the track? This is particularly important for digital and information products. Ask yourself the same about the company. Are they around for a quick buck or do they have a plan to establish long term commerce? Will they develop or keep up with new technologies to maintain a competitive edge? If this information is not readily available on their website, ask them. If they are not planners then they will not survive

5. How long will it take?

Take a long hard look at their compensation plan and compare it to your own goals. Is it cost effective on an hourly basis for the final outcome. You may have to make a decision by balancing time for outcome. You may consider it worthwhile putting in 20 hours work over and above a regular 40 hour job for a small return initially, if the final outcome is say 10 hours per week total for a 5 fold income. Of course you will have to decide first of all exactly how much time you are willing to work on the proposal then ask yourself is their program sufficiently automated to be worth your while?

6. Do they want your success as much as their own?

What is their commitment to you in terms of training and support? If they are not willing to train and support you for your success, are you willing to carry the responsibility of training yourself and dealing with product problems? In my opinion you must have online support and training for whatever you need to do for the mutual success of both you and the company. This can be in the form of email support, forums and a FAQ (frequently asked questions) page on their website.

7. What are the hidden costs?

Ask yourself, "What do I need over and above their proposal in order to achieve my goals", then factor this in to your decision making process. In this you should include things like further study, tools, web hosting expenses, stationary, travel expenses, accommodation etc. It is also important with some businesses to find out if you have a minimum purchase requirement, frequency of compensation and the time period between sales and commission. All these will affect your cash flow. You should then work out exactly what it takes to firstly break even, then become profitable and finally achieve your goals.

8. Is their a lead generation system ?

What assistance is given for approaching potential customers through to closing the deal? This is often non existent with you left to do it all. The best opportunities are fully automated for efficiency but flexible enough to have the essential personal touch. It can be hard work sifting through the opportunities to find your "Ticket2Success".

9. Do they have a money back guarantee?

Whether the product is digital or hardware people will expect a guarantee. Are you able to return and refund products quickly and easily with out problem? Is it clear who handles the finances and complaints in the event of an unhappy customer? You don't want to be left with egg on your face after creating a good online reputation!

9 Great Reasons To Help An Internet Marketing Newbie

Zig Ziglar the famous self help guru was once quoted as saying "You can get everything you want in life if you help enough people get everything they want in life."

No where is this more true than on the internet and internet marketing. I remember when I first started looking into making money on the internet. What an overwhelming feeling. The internet is a big....big...big...world.

When you first get you started you are considered a "Newbie." A newbie is an affectionate term given to someone who is new to the internet and all of the geek speak that comes with trying to figure out how to use it.

Do your remember when you first ventured out in the online business world? You probably had questions and problems along the way. Wouldn't it have been easier if you had help? When a newbie asks for your advice, educate them; answer their questions and help them solve their online business problems. If you do not have the knowledge to help them out, point them in the right direction.

I have found forums as a great way to get information myself as I need it as well as a great place to help people who have particular questions.

Another great place to get help and to help others is Joe Robson's "The Newbie Club." The Newbie Club contains free computer and internet technical problem solving, plus free tutorials, free eBooks, free courses, free guestbooks, free autoresponders, free help and advice, a free newsletter, free affiliate program and a free membership.

http://www.team-schuman.com/newbie

When you help out a newbie you'll personally get many benefits as well. Here are 8 great reasons to help out a "Newbie" make money online today.

1. You will have a great feeling knowing you had a part in their success.

2. You could end up being business partners in the future. You could regularly do joint venture and cross promotion deals with each other.

3. They may join an affiliate program or mlm business with you and help you build your business. There are many 2 tier affiliate programs and mlm businesses today that pay you a handsome commission to teach people how to promote their products online.

4. They could help you delvelop a new product or service or help you get an exsisting project off the ground.

5. They may become one of your best friends. Most people can use new friends, even business owners. You never know when you will run across someone online that you enjoy working with and talking to.

6. They may help you out with your business. Maybe they will give you some testimonials or endorsements for your products or services.

7. They might offer you some free advertising space on their web site or in their e-zine for your help. You could also exchange advertising with them.

8. They may become one of your best customers today as well as purchase back end products from you in the future.

9. You could exchange links with them and build your link popularity ultimately increasing traffic to your own website.

There are many other benefits you could get from helping a new online business owner. Always remember to help them out because it's the nice thing to do and not just to benefit your own business.

8 Must Know Tips I Wish I Had Known a Year Ago About Internet Marketing Online

Are you considering working from home. I have been self-teaching myself what it takes for over 5 years. Learn from my mistakes so you don't have to make them yourself. Tips include, web marketing online, customer service, balancing time, family and more.

1. Remember the importance of a schedule and staying focused. Keeping on task is difficult when working online.

2. Schedule promotions.

3. Plan and make a task schedule for project ideas.

4. Schedule purchases -- (don't buy on impulse, the offer will still be there in a day or so!)

5. Schedule time -- (remember to schedule time for family members as well :o) schedule breaks from the computer -- (not just physical breaks, take your mind of your business and have some fun, you'll be more fresh and productive when you go back to work!)

6. The importance and value of keeping good records:

----Financial

----Promotional

----Backing Up Files

----Affiliate Information

----Passwords Contacts

7. Don't try and run an online business with AOL. I personally have nothing against AOL It is a great service for the computer illiterate newbie. However, once you get the basics down, you can be much more productive with a different ISP. AOL does not allow you to filter email the way it needs to be filtered. When I was doing my business through AOL, I sometimes would be dealing with over 500 emails a day. No way to send them to different folders as in Outlook Express, Eudora or many other email programs.

Unless they have drastically changed things in the newest version, it is one of the few that doesn't work with third party email programs. This just leads to wasted time and frustration. Speaking of wasted time.

8. Get a DSL hook up. The extra cost is worth it in the matter of time saved. Instantaneous downloads.

Web pages that come in as fast as the click of a mouse. It means more productive time spent on the computer. More productivity means more money.

Learn what a great tool Yahoo can be. I have read good comments and bad, about Yahoo. All I know is from my own experience. When I first started online, I exchanged a review for a copy of FrontPage 2002.

7. Take the time to learn how to use E-bay. Even if your plan doesn't entail becoming a powerseller, by putting up a few auctions, you can direct traffic to your site and increase sales. You can learn everything you need and more from the ebook offered at this site: Best Ebay resource I have Read you can find here: http://lauriemeade.com/ss

I had wanted to learn Ebay but kept putting it off. To many other things to do. Because of a planned move, I started researching the ebooks I had about how to go about putting up an auction.

8. Don't be afraid to do a press release. I had read many articles about how they could bring you big traffic. I also read how difficult they were to get read. I worried about too much publicity, invading my privacy.

I researched and studied how to do it, and took the plunge. It worked. The very first time. I got my press released published at PRWeb.com

9. Write it down when you think about it. Too often, I have written an article in my mind. Then it never seems to make it to paper. Being a single mom of three, I am busy. I have found by talking into a digital recorder or tape recorder, I can be more productive. Use that waiting time. This article was generated in my mind while waiting at a bus stop with my almost 2 year old. (He was strapped safely in his stroller with a snack, of course :o)

This article promised 8 tips--- I gave you 11. Below are my bonus tips.

10. Always give more than you promise. Everyone loves freebies. Put something for free on your site. It will generate more traffic. Then incorporate that freebie to generate sales. Writing articles is a great way to do this.

11. Promote free articles. After you have written several on the same topic, you can create a free ebook. Offer it as a tool for webmasters to customize and give away for free. You can offer this customization for free or charge a fee for it. Put affiliate links in your ebook articles to promote backend sales.

If I had known all these things 6 months ago, my business would be bringing in more sales everyday. Learn from my mistakes so you can profit faster.

7 Ways to Become an Obvious Expert in Your Field

Obvious Experts enjoy a compelling advantage over their competition; they're the first ones thought of when there's a challenge to be addressed. Obvious Experts are resources whose advice and expertise are welcomed, trusted, and enthusiastically recommended. When you become an Obvious Expert, prospects come to you pre-sold on your competence. This speeds sales and avoids pricing issues based on unfamiliarity and a resulting lack of trust.

Here are seven ways to use technology to promote your professional services on a limited budget:

Technology makes it practical to promote Obvious Expert status. You can:

  • Maintain constant contact. You can keep in constant contact with clients and prospects without the costs of printing and mailing.
  • Educate your market. Show prospects what to look for when buying and how quality pays off in the long run.
  • Synergy. You can create a powerful synergy between online and offline marketing. Use print to drive website traffic!

Here are some ways to put technology to work promoting your expertise:

1. Keep in touch for free

Adobe Acrobat's PDF file format lets you distribute attractive, easy to read, One-Page Newsletters for free via e-mail and the Internet. Monthly, educational, One-Page Newsletters prove your expertise without bragging or boasting. A monthly One-Page Newsletter is far more effective than a four-page newsletter every other month, or a quarterly eight-page issue. Acrobat permits you to use type and layout to visually "voice" your One-Page Newsletter. This establishes an image and sets it apart from your competitors.

2. Drive web site traffic

Flash Paper, a file format you create with Macromedia Contribute, permits you to display formatted newsletters on your website. Visitors can immediately read and print your One-Page Newsletters without having to download them. Contribute also lets you update your website without knowledge of HTML.

3. Add a personal touch

Web audio adds another level of persuasion and personalization. You can record "welcomes" and "invitations"-furthering your relationship. Audio also permits visitors to hear testimonials delivered in your client's own words. You can host teleconferences on low-cost rented bridge lines. You can expand upon topics introduced in One-Page Newsletters, engaging your market and deepening relationships. Calls can be recorded and offered as free MP-3 website downloads.

4. Automate your marketing

Use autoresponders to automatically fulfill prospect information requests. Each request can trigger a timed sequence of e-mails-like a "mini-course"-greatly increasing your chances of making a sale. Post-purchase autoresponders help you cross-sell, up-sell, and re-sell buyers.

5. Write better in less time

Mind Mapping software helps you plan your marketing and write more persuasive copy. Mind Mapping helps you harvest and organize your ideas. You can easily plan your marketing and create each issue of your One-Page Newsletter. You can also use online technology to dictate your newsletters, greatly reducing the time it takes to create each issue.

6. Publish your expertise

Print-on demand helps you publish a book that promotes your expertise without undue financial risk. Books are only printed when they are sold.

7. Learn from your market

Online surveys help you identify your market's information needs, test offers and messages, and find out why visitors leave your website without buying.

Keys to success

  • Use multiple technologies. Use autoresponders to distribute your surveys, for example.
  • Commit to consistency. One-Page Newsletters keep you constantly in front of clients and prospects.
  • Always look your best. Use design to reinforce your image and your message.
  • Educate, don't advertise. Let your ideas speak for themselves. Sales will follow.

7 Simple Steps To Web Wealth

A lot of people and companies have websites. They also have products and services they want people to know about. Unfortunately, most of these people and companies waste most of their time on things that don't help them to make money. Here are 7 areas to focus on that will help you make more money:

1. Remember that marketing is more important than what your product is. If you have the greatest product ever and no one knows about it you won't make any money.

Direct response marketing online is very similar to direct response marketing offline. 90% of your time should be invested in marketing because nothing else will make you money. Don't waste time figuring out how to do it right. Study the people who have already spent time and money on learning what does and doesn't work. Then you can spend more of your time on collecting cash.

2. You must have a back end product to make good money. The way to make the most money is to first offer FREE information that is valuable. This will begin your relationship with a customer. Then have a product that is under $50 for a front end. Make sure the front end product is somehow connected to the back end product. For example, if you sell a $10 book on shaving points off your golf score, you want to have a back end product like a $300 course on the best proven techniques for the most effective golf swing ever.

3. Your product needs to be valuable to your customers. They need to believe that what they receive is worth a lot more than what they paid for it. That will make them a life-long customer. Sell them something worthless and they will be unhappy and they will be gone forever. Sell products you believe in or don't sell anything.

4. Give your customers FREE bonuses and more than you promised. Under promise and over deliver. Make your customers say "Wow!" when they receive your products. Don't just make them happy, blow their minds with how much value they get from you.

There are thousands of low cost bonus products you can throw in as a thank you. Even better, these low cost bonuses can make your customers a lot of money and they will appreciate you more. Besides, it's more ethical and fun and creative to build in great extras and bonuses for people. The bottom line is the more you give the more you get.

5. Get opt-in e-mail addresses. This is like gold for you. The only real purpose for a consumer website is to capture leads and to sell products. By leads I mean e-mail addresses. You want to build up a customer list and then you want to work it repeatedly. Send out a monthly e-zine that offers FREE valuable information and mentions similar products they may be interested in. They may see something that a friend of theirs will want to buy from you.

The key here is that these people ask to be on your list, you give them FREE information that has value, and they can unsubscribe at any time.

6. Build a relationship. It is much easier to sell someone who has had a good experience with you than someone who has never heard of you. Most companies ignore this fact and spend thousands of dollars each month trying to bring in new customers while they ignore people who already bought from them. Pretty stupid, but that's how most businesses operate.

7. Never stop learning. The best and richest marketers in the business spend the most amount of money buying books, tapes and courses that keep them on the cutting edge. Why? Because no one knows it all and new and better ways to market are discovered every day.

There is a lot of valuable FREE information available online that is easy to find and can make you a lot of money. One good idea can be worth hundreds or thousands of dollars in future sales for you. So invest in yourself and your future.

These 7 simple steps can mean the difference between struggling to stay in business and struggling to keep up with all the orders coming in. Which struggle would you prefer?

7 Incredibly Simple Ways To Profit Wildly From Public Domain Material

If you're in the business of marketing online, a major portion of your income will come from your ability to deliver quality content and products to your market.

Now, besides creating these yourself, one of the quickest and cheapest way to acquire all the content and products you need is in the public domain.

Whatever your requirements, you can find almost anything in the public domain. Examples include texts, audio, images, stock video, music and software...which you can flexibly use in whichever ways you want!

A word of warning though...

While a large portion of this material is "fair use", not all the works entered into the public domain database are clear of copyright restrictions.

A true public domain work is information open to the public for use, including copying, distributing and modification at no cost. Currently works published 75 years ago are considered to be public domain, while those published from 1924-1963 may be public domain - IF the copyright was not renewed.

I would highly recommend reading the public domain FAQ pages at these websites first before you use any material:

http://www.gutenberg.org
http://www.pdimages.com
http://www.pdmusic.org
http://digital.library.upenn.edu/books

However - if you desire an easier and quicker method of monetizing the public domain, you will be amazed at what you can do at ==> http://www.miniebook.com/files.htm

Assuming you now have all the public domain content you want, the million dollar question is:

"How do I truly monetize them to create long-term profit streams?"

The answer is in these 7 simple methods:

Method #1: Kick Start An Information Empire

How many mini sites in a week can you set up to sell info-products that has already been created for you? It's a no-brainer.

Public domain provides the perfect opportunity for creating an empire of super profitable mini sites that can each make money on autopilot for you. It's really a numbers game...

If one mini site generates a conservative $300 per month, ten of these would mean a nice income of $3,000 every month! What if you just concentrate on getting the formula down to a science and duplicate these mini sales machines every day? Think about it.

Apply this concept to auction listings and you can also create a fortune with public domain and eBay.

Method #2: Churn Out Complete Niche Websites

Split up public domain material and use them as pages of targeted niche content for your website. It's a simple idea but hardly anyone exploit it.

All you do is select relevant public domain books and break them down into instant content. With a little SEO skills, planning and targeted keyword-based public domain content, you can spit out new websites that ranks highly in the search engines overnight.

This is a better solution and enhancement to automated site creation tools, which being essentially carbon copies of each other, have high risks of being banned.

While it takes work, this is one quick way to develop new niche sites on demand. You can then profit from them using Google Adsense, affiliate programs and advertising revenues. This method can also be applied to blogs.

Method #3: Get Traffic With Viral Lead Generators

A proven way to generate free and highly-targeted traffic is to create lead generating mini ebooks and make them viral. This is a strategy I reveal in detail in "Mini eBook Secrets" at ==> http://www.miniebook.com.

Basically public domain material can be fully or partially used as content for your mini ebooks, which you simply create and give away to bring back traffic to your site. Adding a viral marketing effect to your mini ebooks will explode your traffic for life - without any cost to you.

Not many people are using public domain in this way and it'll be highly profitable for you to do so.

Method #4: Follow-up For Maximum Profits

It's a proven fact that following up with your prospects through an autoresponder sequence or ecourse is bound to increase your sales. This is where you can use content from the public domain to great effect.

If you can cut and paste, you can create a quality ecourse with public domain works. It's as easy as it gets.

Method #5: Achieve Instant Recognition And Credibility

This one is good - split the public domain book's content into hundreds of articles with YOUR name and resource box on them.

Then simply submit these 'instant' articles and sit back. Your personal branding and name recognition will skyrocket beyond belief! You'll also receive credibility and expert status with your articles, provided they're good.

Method #6: Create Multiple Products At Lightning Speed

Have you thought about repackaging and creating different products out of public domain material? Just changing the format can vastly increase the perceive value and worth of the product.

You can take a public domain book and split it up into modules, create audio recordings or market it as a paid subscription newsletter for tons more profits than just selling it as a single ebook. Just changing the format can vastly increase the perceive value and worth of the product.

Another idea is to combine a few books with a common topic as a themed package. You can then sell resale rights to it and generate instant backend cash. Or create a high-ticket item by combining manuals, audio and dvds together.

The possibilities are huge!

Method #7: Use Them As Special Bonuses

Public domain material make excellent bonuses for your main product when you're looking for increased value. Other uses of bonuses include:

As extra incentives for your affiliate promotions; as incentives for publishing articles; or even for a simple purpose like clicking to a site. You get the idea :-)

Apply these 7 methods and your traffic, sales and income will surely surge.

7.5 Ways To Get More Sales Through Your Web Site

Yes, apparently - websites are supposed to make money! Somebody came up with the strange idea that it's really not enough to spend thousands on your site, hundreds of hours creating the content and then sitting back to admire you, and your developer's work. No - apparently it is now 'cool' to have a web site that actually makes it onto a sales column in your chart of accounts.. 'Return on in investment' is a good phrase that's being thrown around - what are you actually making from your web site in cash terms? Ever thought about that?

Well, you should be thinking about it. Not only should you be tracking where the money is coming from but also where it's gone to. No point kidding yourself - it wasn't cheap was it? There was the developer's costs, the graphic design costs and hopefully some costs set aside for taking on web site marketing experts to get your site found.

So, anyway, track what you've spent and then see what's coming through the door rather than going out when it comes to your website. To help you - in what is a constant review and improve process - here are 7.5 ways to get more sales through your web site.

"Get On With It!", I hear you shout, "Tell Me The 7.5 Ways To Get More Sales!"

1. Use a professional web developer to build the site in the first place.

Don't cut corners or budgets. How many business owners have an idea for a business and then take up the science of bricklaying to build their own shop or premises? Exactly - don't do it. Your job is to run your business effectively and worry about where the profits are coming from - not designing websites.

2. Use a professional graphic designer when your site is being developed.

If you use your mate next door we can all tell. It might keep your wallet heavy but hey - if you want a website that looks a million Lira - fine. A rough, made up just now, rule of thumb is to spend 10% of what you would like the web site to make. Just think about that for a minute when you get Dave from down the pub to 'knock you one up for £100..". And remember - you'll need professional web development AND professional graphic design input. Web developers are not designers. Graphic designers are not web developers. Glad we've got that cleared up..

3. Use a professional web site marketing company to get your web site found

You need to get found in the search engines, in the directories and anywhere on the web that matters. Graphic designers can't do this. Most web developers can't do this. And you certainly can't do this - you're supposed to be running your business, remember? Spot the theme here? Yes - professionals. You don't get a plumber in to lay your carpet do you? Don't make the same mistake when creating your web site - pull in the appropriate professionals for the appropriate tasks. Which brings us nicely on to way number 4...

4. Don't be a scrooge.

There is an old proverb that says it perfectly;

once but cries many times. The man who buys expensive cries once but laughs many times."

Remember this the next you think about cutting corners. There are obviously exceptions to every rule but you usually get what you pay for in this life.

5. Ask for the sale.

Yes it's obvious. But are you doing it? If you're actually selling something directly via your website you have to make it an absolute doddle for someone to work out what they need to do. Don't make them hunt around for pricing, ordering information, contact details, delivery information etc. Sock it to them right up front - they'll love you for it. If you're not selling directly via the site you still need to ask for the sale.

6. Throw your web site to the lions.

Not literally, unless it's really bad. (And in case you're wondering how that would be physically possible just load all your web site's files onto a floppy disc, take the number 33 bus down to the nearest zoo, buy a ticket and a map, locate the lions and Bob's your uncle. But I digress..). Basically get as many people as possible to critique your web site. Friends and family are always good for this - though they'll probably be unwilling to be over-critical (unless it's your in-laws) so impartial parties is a better idea, if you can track any down.

Ask your colleagues and friends to forward your web site address onto others and ask for direct feedback, no holds barred. Better to have people test it like this and say it's about as much use as a chocolate fireguard than open your shop doors, so to speak, and have your customers tell you the same thing by voting with their mice and sniffing away in an instant in the search for more professionally-produced cheese...

7. Deliver what you say you will

Yes, another no-brainer but it will pay huge dividends. No point in fighting tooth and nail for all those hard-to-reach prospects if you've got a nice healthy stack of existing customers that already think you're the bees' knees. Once you've got that customer hold onto him / her with all your might - treat them like kings because your competitor will be after them. It's far cheaper and quicker to sell something to an existing customer than it is to find a new one. Simple in theory - not so easy to put into practice. But hey - what are you after here? A free breakfast?!

7.5. "People Laughed At Me When I Said I Could Get Them To Read This Sentence. But Who's Laughing Now?!"

Use headlines in your web site. People are busy. People are impatient and people can't read. Well, okay they can - but they prefer information in small chunks. They like something that grabs them. Why do you think you're reading this article? Because your subconscious read the headline and dived straight in. You really think you would be reading this if the article were titled "Web Site Creating Techniques Aimed At Improving Return On Investment Over Time". ?? I rest my case...

6 Tips To Create Effective Solo Ad That Pulls Results

How many times have you... heard that running solo ads in ezines is the most effective way to advertise? Every single marketer swears that solo ads can bring you big profits.

Well, I've been placing solo ads in various marketing ezines for 5 months now. And I have to agree: solo ads work... ...if you know HOW to use them.

How to write effective solo ad I've learned the hard way. I've lost $527.00 in my first two months. Now, here is the good news: you don't have to waste your time trying to figure out how to create a good solo ad. I've done it for you. :)

By following these six tips you'll be able to create solo ads that produce incredible results.

1. Choose the ezine you want to advertise in very carefully.

Don't only consider ezine size. The truth is that smaller ezines produce better results than ezines with large subscriber base. I always prefer to run my solo ad in ezine with 8,000 subscribers than in ezine with 100,000. Not because it's cheaper, but because small lists are usually more responsive.

Before buying the ad in any ezine read a couple of issues. Does it provide readers with quality content? Does it shows the personality of its editor? Would you subscribe to that ezine?

Advertising in poor quality ezines is a waste of money. No one is reading them anyway.

2. Get the readers attention with the headline.

It is very important to make sure that you can add your headline in a subject line of solo ad. If the subject line reads "Our Ezine Solo Ad" most of subscribers won't open it. You have to add your *attention grabbing* subject line.

Headlines like "Check this out" or "Here is my new product" won't work.

Get their attention! Spark the desire to learn more! Give them a *reason* to open your email.

Bob Leduc wrote a great article "How To Create A Captivating Headline". You can find it here: http://online-internet-marketing-strategy.com/headline.html

3. Don't sell anything in your ad.

Yep, you've read it right. Do not sell anything in your ad. Your main goal there is not to create a sale, but to create a lead, create a prospect who will buy from you later.

Would you prefer to generate 3-5 sales or to get 300-500 prospects ready to buy from you?

Offer free trial, free report, free ebook, free ecourse. Give away something valuable first. Create a prospect list. Establish relationships. And then *suggest* your product. Using this simple technique I achieved 10-15% conversion rate with my ecourse.

4. Make your ad easy to read.

Readers usually scan the message. They are busy, they don't have time to read your ad in complete details. It is your job to make it as easy for them as possible to scan it.

Use a short paragraphs. Use short sentences. Like this.

Use simple words. Don't forget that subheadlines work great. As well as bullets. Often subheadlines and bullet list is all that people read.

5. Tell the benefits.

If you offer something for free that doesn't mean that all the readers will jump into your offer automatically. You have to "sell" your free stuff too.

Tell me why should I bother and subscribe to your ecourse? What's there for me? Will I improve my life? Business?

Write down the complete list of benefits. Then make every benefit as powerful as you can. Use a power words. Give details.

And then put all your benefits into a bullet list. You're almost ready!

6. Create sense of urgency.

Make the readers act now. Tell them that tomorrow will be too late. Cause you've got just 50 free copies. Or they will be available only till midnight.

Give them a reason to act now. Explain why there is no time to procrastinate. Create a fear of loosing, create a sense of limited availability. That always works great.

Now you know everything you need to create a killer solo ad that pulls amazing results. All you have to do is to put it into practice.

Earn Money from Other People's Hard Work

If you're making money on the Internet does it really matter what you're selling?

That depends.

It might if you're selling something you'd be ashamed to tell your parents about. But if that's the case my advice is simple: Maybe what the parents don't know won't hurt them!

But seriously, if you're looking for ways to make money on the Internet, check out the world of affiliate marketing. That's a system in which online merchants pay other web site owners (their affiliates) for driving traffic from affiliate sites to the merchant's site.

Affiliate marketing can provide you with an excellent source of income while saving you the hard work of researching an idea, investing in development, and testing marketing reactions. All you do is find effective products or services and promote them to an audience who wants to buy them. Sounds pretty simple and it is.

How good's the pay?

That depends on different variables, but plenty of affiliate marketers generate enough commission to work the affiliate marketing model full time.

Who pays me?

Merchants pay affiliates and easily track their affiliates' efforts using unique URLs tied to each affiliate.

How do I get paid?

As would happen if you were a commissioned sales rep, you might get paid a certain amount every time a visitor sent from your affiliate site to the merchant's site makes a purchase. But it's better because affiliate marketers don't make sales pitches or hammer prospects unmercifully until they succumb to the pressure. That's called Pay per Sale (PPS) affiliate marketing.

Another way to get paid is by generating "clicks" to the merchant's web site. Commission rates for Pay per Click (PPC) programs vary widely so it's definitely worth it to know the products or services you're promoting and amount of commission each pays before getting too deeply involved in a PPC program.

Some affiliate programs will even pay you for generating leads. With Pay per Lead (PPL) programs all you've got to do is get the people visiting your site to register over at the merchant site and guess what? Cha-ching!

With affiliate marketing, all you do is put advertisements on your site and wait for the people visiting your site to take some action that benefits the merchant you're affiliated with.

It's a win-win situation for sure. The merchant gets free advertising all over the Internet and either makes sales or grows his prospect list. And you the affiliate marketer get paid - electronically - which means your commission checks don't bounce!

How to Fill your Wallet with Other People's Money

How would you like to get paid to sell something you don't own and that doesn't cost you a penny to manufacturer?

Yes, it's legal.
Yes, it's profitable.
Yes, you can do it to.

Affiliate marketing is the key to riches earned by leveraging other people's hard work. And don't worry. They won't hate you for it. In fact, they want you to take advantage of them.

Product manufacturers and service providers look to affiliates to sell goods and services on a 100% commission basis. You get paid whenever a visitor to your web site clicks on a product or service affiliate link and takes whatever action your affiliate agreement calls for. Sound easy? It is, but only if you know how to play the game.

Before you run off to chase your fortune, know the answer to these four basic questions:

Which affiliate program are you joining?
What types of products or services will you promote?
How much and how often will you be paid?
How good is the affiliate's reputation?

The first mistake would-be affiliate marketers make is choosing an affiliate program based solely upon affiliate commission promises. Doesn't seem like a mistake, right? After all, you're in this to make money, but getting paid 0 a sale isn't nearly as impressive as it sounds if there's little demand for whatever it is you'll be promoting.

But demand is only part of the picture. Relevancy is also key. Say you currently have a travel related site. Even though some of your visitors are likely to be dog owners, you'll be better off marketing travel-related products and services than you would be selling pet supplies.

Here's a good rule to follow:

Only promote products and services that are likely to be in demand by the majority of people who visit your website.

Here's another solid tip that will bring you money.

Always know who you're dealing with. There are a lot of Jesse James-types on the Internet and you don't want to get robbed. So check out your prospective partner. Find out about the commission structure and the payment frequency. Dig under the hype using your "common sense" shovel and see what color the dirt is.

Google the company or product name and ignore any hits that come from the vendor's site itself. Look for comments from other affiliates. Also check the Better Business Bureau web site and see if there are any complaints against the company.

Affiliate marketing is a good deal, but only if you get paid for your work.

Online Marketing Tips That Will Save Your Advertising Campaign

The field of internet marketing has undergone countless changes in recent years. Many of these changes are due to increased recognition and rejection of marketing tactics by potential customers. As internet customers become educated about marketing methods, they increasingly avoid acting in ways that marketers hope they will.

What can you do to avoid the avoiders? How do you get your message out to consumers who are already wary of any type of advertisement? How do you get them to your website? There are a few online marketing tactics that have proven very successful and they may be simpler than you think.

Email marketing boasts the best advertising return on investment. The advertising budget that you spend on email marketing is directly traceable to sales made because of that campaign. This doesn't mean that spamming will translate into a fat bank account. What it means is that by targeting and sending your audience an active advertisement, you will get better results than you would with a passive advertisement on a website.

The difference between the two; passive ads and targeted email, is in the delivery. An email advertisement conveys a sense of urgency, a prompt to act immediately. Email marketing is priceless for building and maintaining relationships with customers by keeping your brand and products fresh in their minds. Think of it as nearly-effortless lead generation: you put the information out there to act on and they act because it's a tangible, irresistible call to action.

On the other hand, passive ads put the customer in control. They decide to navigate their way to a website, read advertisements and click on them if moved to do so. Unless ads are spectacular or very well-placed, chances are most customers will not click them. This is not to say that text and link advertising doesn't work. On the contrary, they are extremely effective lead generation tools. However, ads have to stand out and convey a real sense of value for customers to take the time to click through.

That brings up another point about online marketing: links on websites make the modern consumer nervous. Audiences who realize that you are trying to make money from their clicks will be far less likely to click on links on your site, whether they are advertisements or not. One of the best ways to solve this dilemma is to employ a link cloaker.

A link cloaker is an ingenious little plug-in that lets you disguise the target address of links on your site. Ordinarily, when a customer hovers over a link, the status bar will show the target address. Some customers avoid clicking on affiliate links. Others choose to simply open a new browser tab and type the address in directly, which means a loss of income for you. With a link cloaker, the stated target is whatever you want it to be: the name of the target site, your own site address, or some other text chosen by you.

The internet advertising media has afforded endless opportunities for business. It doesn't matter what the business, there is a way to make an online marketing campaign that works. The trick is in knowing how to present a campaign that customers see as a clear benefit to them. Potential customers do not like being "pitched to." They do, however, appreciate help and advice given them to assist making decisions.

6 Proven Steps To Internet Marketing Success

There is a misconception that you can come online set up a web business and be making $1000s within days. Let be put that myth to rest right away. This has not been my experience nor the experience of anyone I have come in contact with through my online endeavours.

You need to give yourself at least a year to make an online business work and budget your money accordingly. Too many times I see people ploughing a wad of cash into their businesses and again, expecting instant riches.

New marketers also make the mistake of thinking that one marketing strategy will do. Of course some avenues will produce more than others but I have found the best way is to adapt a broad based approach to your online marketing. That means spreading your time and resources over several different methods.

I will attempt to outline in this text everything I feel you need to be doing consistently to make a success of your online business.

Again I MUST point out that you need to persist is this strategy and spend your money wisely. It amazes me the amount of people who drop out after the first month or two. What do they expect, miracles? You wouldn't ditch an offline business after a month so why would you expect an online enterprise to be any different?

If you fail to plan then you plan to fail.

Bottom line is, targeted visitors = sales. This is definitely a numbers game and obviously the more targeted visitors you send to your website the more money you make. The concept is simple but you need to maintain a healthy focus to ensure that you stick this out for as long as it takes to make a profit, and progress to financial freedom online.

Here are the methods I use to send daily visitors to my sites:

1)Build Your List

It's true what they say that the money IS in the list. Most successful online marketers have large lists of targeted prospects that they can send their offers to on a regular basis. Anyone new to this business should begin to build this list immediately.

You have to start somewhere and it takes time but it is certainly worth your while to begin now and develop a lasting and trustful relationship with those list members who eventually will feel comfortable in purchasing your recommendations. When trust grows this targeted list will become a virtual money tree and make you cash at will. Some marketers are able to makes $1000s sending an email to their list, which takes little more than a few minutes to write. Can you see the power in this method?

I use a couple of different methods, online forms at all my websites encouraging prospects to add their name and email addresses plus I also purchase many of my addresses from other companies that can send me 1000s of emails for affordable prices. These addresses are spam free and can grow my list a lot quicker than I could ever do from my own websites.

I have set up some tutorials here for companies that will send you targeted visitors:

http://www.pluginprofitstraining.com/listopt.html

http://www.pluginprofitstraining.com/listmedia.html

2)Pay Per Click search engines.

Over the years I have used PPCSEs to send 1000s of visitors to my sites. This is a fast track way to drive traffic to your sites. You can be up and running and getting hits in minutes.

I use http://www.overture.com, http://www.findwhat.com, and http://www.7search.com. These are three of the most popular but there are many others which you can find here:

http://www.payperclicksearchengines.com/

I suggest you use Wordtracker (http://www.workathomebiz.info/wordtracker.html) to accumulate as many TARGETED keywords as you can. The more targeted keywords you collect the more visitors you get.

The idea is to ensure that you are paying less for visitors on a monthly basis than the sales you make.

3)Google Adwords (http://www.google.com/ads/)

Google adwords is similar in principle to PPCSEs in that you pay for your visitors. I suggest you use Wordtracker (http://www.workathomebiz.info/wordtracker.html) to accumlate 1000s of keyword phrases.

4)Article Submissions

Submitting topical articles is one of the most affordable and at the same time effective marketing strategies I know of. For more info and the resources to do this visit here:

http://www.pluginprofitstraining.com/articlesubmissions.html

5)Regular Search Engines

Yahoo, Google, and MSN send me as many visitors per day as any other strategy I use. It is highly recommended that you get started immediately to begin to build the online web presence of your website and thus your search engine rankings.

I have done this mostly through a reciprocal linking campaign which has had a greater effect on my search engine rankings than anything else. I employ the use of Linksmanager (http://www.workathomebiz.info/linksmanager.html) to automate my links campaign for which I pay a monthly fee or you can set up your own links manager at your own site using Kevin Ocasio's excellent Reciprocal Manager (http://www.freeadvertz.com/recipmanager.html).

For affordable search engine submission software try Web Position Gold (http://www.webpositiongolddownloads.com)

Please note: This is a long term strategy, so it will take at least a few months of persistent action to see any results at all.

6)Forum Posting

One of the greatest things that happened to me in my online career was being appointed moderator at one on the most popular online internet marketing forums. This has opened up more avenues and opportunities than any other strategy. I suggest you visit the popular, high traffic online forums daily and make it a point of sharing your experiences and giving your advice as often as possible. Get yourself seen!

The thing about this method too is that you can have a link pointing to your site in the signature of each post you make. Posting at forums will send daily traffic to your site AND the visitors will be highly targeted.

Here are two high traffic forums that I frequent:

http://www.ablake.net/forum/

http://www.howtocorp.com/forum/

This one isn't high traffic yet but I will be there to answer your questions:

http://www.home-business-tips-newsletter.com/forum/

In conclusion:

I have been marketing online since 1998 and have tried 100s of different ways to drive targeted traffic to my websites. The above six strategies work, so I suggest you print them out and make the methods part of your daily marketing plan for the foreseeable future.

If they can work for me then they WILL work for you.

I wish you every success in your efforts.

8 Major Online Marketing Mistakes to Avoid

Online marketing may be extremely beneficial for your business and typically has a much greater return on investment than in comparison to traditional marketing avenues. However, your online marketing efforts must be conducted in an appropriate manner in order to be beneficial. Here are a few of the most common online marketing mistakes to watch out for and avoid.

1.Unsolicited Emails: Never send out spam emails. Sending out unsolicited emails may get your domain name or IP flagged as a source of spam. If you're flagged as a source of spam, you may not be able to send legitimate emails, and your dreams of email marketing will go down the drain.

2.Extensive Load Times: Most people have very little patience when browsing the internet. Avoid slow page loading times by limiting the size and number of images on your website. Also, flash videos are notorious for causing slow load times, but these videos may be incorporated in moderation.

3.Poor Page Copy: Avoid simply stating the facts about your company on your website. Your potential patrons and customers are interested in what you can do for them and not the biographical data on your company.

4.Flash Based Websites: Although, atheistically appealing and often quite engaging, websites created entirely in flash are not visible to search engines. Basically, a flash based website is the equivalent of an interactive video broadcasted on the web and cannot be scanned by today's popular search engines.

5.Failure to Measure Success: Unlike many traditional marketing avenues, online marketing allows you to measure your success. Various website tools allow you to track who visits your website, what it is that they are looking at, and how long they are viewing specific pages. This type of analytical data allows you to custom tailor your online marketing for maximum return on investment.

6.Dependency on Pay-Per Click Advertising: A common mistake for many companies on the web is to invest solely in pay-per click keyword advertising.Typically, a first page organic Google result is just as powerful as a costly pay per click keyword advertisement. Also, many people prefer the organic search results, because they have a certain implied credibility.

7.Single Marketing Vehicle: Never keep all your eggs in one basket. For example, if your site traffic is based solely off organic Google search results and there is a change in Google's search engine algorithms, your specific keyword rankings may drop significantly and your online business will most likely suffer greatly. It's important to incorporate a variety of marketing vehicles such as opt-in emails, pay-per click advertisements, organic keyword results, banner ads, and etc.

8.Focusing Exclusively on Site Traffic: Website traffic is not the only factor that dictates the success of an ecommerce business. All the traffic in the world won't benefit your business, if you have an extremely poor conversion rate. A conversion rate is simply the amount of website traffic that converts to online sales. For example, if your site receives 200 visits a day and your conversion rate is about 5 percent, you would have generated roughly 10 sales. With a higher conversion rate, the amount of traffic required to reach your goals will be greatly reduced.

10 Reasons Why I Love To Make Money Online With Affiliate Marketing

I love affiliate marketing as it is the most ingenious business model created ever. It works especially well in this world of internet, where millions of digital products exchange hands every single moment! If you are just starting out to earn some income online, affiliate marketing is something you should not miss as it is one of the easiest and best ways of making money online!

These are the top 10 reasons why I love affiliate marketing and will continue to make my fortune through it!

1) I do not need to create a product to sell

The product is created by the affiliate program you will be joining. You do not need to start creating anything from scratch, saving you a lot of time doing research on whether your product will be popular or whether it can even sell. Find a reputable affiliate program that has a proven track record to show. You have met a winner if the product already pre-sells itself that all you need is a little push to convince the customer to buy!

2) I do not need a website to sell the product

Many affiliate programs have a sales page for their affiliates to market. You do not need to worry about the technical bits of creating a website, thus saving you a lot of time when you are just starting out in this internet business. You can spend more time marketing the product instead!

3) I do not need to be responsible for any product upgrades

Any future product upgrades are taken care of by the affiliate program owner. You are only the marketer and once the customer purchases the product, your job is done! You do not have to worry about any future updates or issues as the product company will handle it direct.

4) I do not need to stock inventory

I appreciate this most as I do not have the space to stock inventory! In a traditional brick and mortar business or even an Ebay business, you may need to buy some goods and stock it before you start selling it. You bear the risk of not being able to sell your products and end up stocking more and more of others. But the beauty of affiliate marketing allows you to sell other's products without any worry where to stock them!

5) I do not need to handle payment or refunds

Payment is taken care of by payment processors set up by the affiliate program. It is usually instant by credit card or Paypal. If refunds are requested, this is also the responsibility of the affiliate program owner, not me!

6) I do not need to handle customer service issues

Customer service is very important to a customer and can be quite sticky to handle sometimes. But I do not need to busy myself at all with this as customer support is provided backend by the affiliate program owner.

7) I do not need to handle shipping, regardless local or international

Most affiliate programs sell digital products, so this is available instantly by download once the customer makes the payment. Even if the program is selling a physical product, all shipping of inventory is taken care of by the company. I do not need to spend time packaging the product and specially making a trip by the postal office to mail it!

8) I can join all kinds of affiliate programs, and expand my business in so many ways

I am free to select the niche that I enjoy promoting. If I am hardworking enough, I can multi-task and promote many affiliate programs at the same time! It is all up to me! The opportunities are endless.

9) Payment of commission is usually easy and hassle-free

Affiliate commission is usually deposited directly into your account by payment processors like Paypal or sent as a physical check.

10) Affiliate programs are plenty and you will never be jostled out of business

Everyday, there are new affiliate programs created. Everyday, there are millions of potential customers searching for information they need. Everyday there are people starting out as affiliate marketers, but there are also many who give up halfway. There is always a place for you in the market!

Do you look forward to being self-employed? Do you worry about your job being outsourced or your boss giving you the boot some day? Working from home is your best bet, and affiliate marketing is the easiest way to start earning some decent online income!

Understanding Search Engine Marketing

Search engine marketing (SEM) revolves around getting the highest possible visibility among your Internet-based target market through a high rank in the search engines.

For most Internet users it's virtually second nature to use a search engine to look for information, products or services. As expected, when they search on a particular word or combinations of words, the search engines come up with a host of results. Each result represents a website that supposedly has the information, products or services the Internet user looking for. They can click on the link and ta-da! the website does or does not give them what they want.

From your point of view as an Internet marketer, you want prospective customers who search on certain words to see your result when they go hunting for what you offer. In most cases this means being placed as high as possible, on the first page of results. If they've found what they're looking for, most people won't bother wading through all the search engine ranking pages (SERPs). Even if they haven't found what they're looking for, they often give up after sifting through the first few SERPs.

The two main strands of search marketing are search engine optimization (SEO) and paid search. Search engine optimization is about optimizing your website (i.e. each page on the site) - known as "on-page optimization" - as well as undertaking a range of "off-page" activities designed to achieve a high ranking in the SERPs. Getting a high ranking in the SERPs of a given search engine is a function of how that search engine's mathematical algorithm (i.e. for determining rankings) works. Often this takes a degree of study, trial and error, and hard work.

Alternatively, to achieve a high place in the paid search results, it's largely a matter of how much you're willing to pay. Depending on the search engine, you can pay per click - known literally as pay-per-click (PPC) advertising - or pay based on the number of impressions or views the ad receives. Having said that, the priority of your placing may also be impacted by how effective your ad is, based on the number of clicks it receives or click through rate (CTR). Google, in particular, takes the CTR into account, as well as the bid price per click, when determining the order of the paid results.

It can be a good idea to dip your toe into search marketing by starting with paid advertising - particularly PPC. Not only can you begin promoting your offer to your target market without delay, but you can also test keywords. You might decide that particularly high performing keywords should be incorporated into your webpages for SEO purposes.

Search engine marketing can appear daunting to some, but it's not as complex or "technical" as many think. Like anything, you'll need to devote some time and effort to the principles of search engine marketing, but the possibility of attracting a huge amount of traffic on an ongoing basis makes it worthwhile.

5 Ways To Treat Your Website Like An Employee And Reap The Rewards

People often come to me in a state of crisis and say their website isn't working. Usually they're in a cold sweat:

"Michael, give me some practical things I can do to get more sales from my website!"

You want practical advice? Stop treating your website like an object in your business and start treating it like an employee. Most businesses treat their website like a physical item in their business - such as a filing cabinet for example. Just take Mr. Smith from ABC Ltd.:

"Everyone else has got a filing cabinet so I thought we'd better get one. I'm not very interested in cabinets myself but people seem to think they get you more customers. It looks quite neat though - I made sure my face is on the front of it."

Very good. How much business do you get from it?

"Business? Oh I don't know - I haven't even looked at it for a year or so. It's been a waste of money. We paid a company to build it and it doesn't work."

Right, I see. Have you updated it regularly and promoted it extensively?

"What? No - it went live and that was it, nothing's happened. I thought the phone would be ringing off the hook. Come and have a look at it anyway, it's over here in the corner - gathering dust."

So here they are:

5 Ways To Treat Your Website Like An Employee And Make More Money As A Result

Treat your website like one of your employees and it will start to behave like one.

1. Look after your employees - give them the attention they deserve, pay them well and don't neglect their needs

2. Make sure your employees look the part - first impressions count: scuffed shoes and scruffy clothes won't bring in the business

3. Give them mobility - buy them a company car so they can get out into the world and sell for you, they won't sell much stuck in one place and not being found

4. Keep them informed - give them the latest information on the focus of your company, new services, new sales scripts, latest changes to the way you do business etc.

5. Introduce them to everyone - don't let your employee feel like they're on the sidelines of your business, separate to everyone else - they need to be a fully integrated part of your business, not an after-thought bolted on at the last minute.

5 Things More Important to Internet Buyers than WHAT Youre Selling II

Web commerce is all about courtship, not salesmanship. In life, a suitor can't go from first date to the engagement ring in one afternoon. Courtship is an intricate dance, where each party contributes to the relationship at a measured tempo. Trust grows through gradual exchanges and reassurances.

Yet, the typical sales-oriented Web site urges the visitor to jump to commitment right away. Pushing for them to "BUY NOW!" is not only premature, but a misapplication of the fact that visitors are in a hurry. Developing a relationship can't be rushed or skipped--not if you intend to lead them to the alter (sale). Buyers want and need to proceed at their own pace.

Each request you make of a visitor "call, read, subscribe or buy" requires a higher level of commitment. So back off the hard sell, and instead weave the steps into a sensuous dance that respects them and invites a lasting relationship. It's possible, if you follow these five points that buyers care about.

1. How well they're treated

The mood of the site should be welcoming, geared to assist the customer finding what they're looking for. Trust grows as you minimize their sense of risk. And make no mistake, the buyer's risks are greater online. Recognize them and reduce them as much as possible. They've been conned, burned, or faced non-delivery of purchases--not to mention abuse of their credit cards or privacy information.

The Internet works because people feel anonymous. People are understandably leery about revealing personal information. So every aspect of the site needs to say, "you're safe here" along with, "look at all the interesting things we have to show you." One fast move and that skittish deer will bolt.

Web commerce has several inherent disadvantages--shipping charges, delays until products arrive, lack of hands-on assessment, etc. When buyers encounter other disadvantages as well, whether it's unacceptable policies, or added costs, they treat them as a deal breaker--even if it's just a little bit more.

2. How efficiently the buying process went

Assuming your site sells a tangible product, the buyer has to be able to assess its looks, materials, uses, and value without being able to touch it. This can be accomplished much better with some products than others by use of photographs and descriptive copy. But a buyer still takes a chance as to color, size, quality, and suitability. Sales sites need to know their customers' concerns so well that they anticipate what they need to know.

Design the site for ease of scanning and logical organization that presents information so it will guide and inform.

3. How much aggravation they had to endure

Here's where poor navigation or slow download times cost you sales. (Navigation problems are a main reason why site visitors leave.) They won't stay at a site where they can't easily find the answers they want. And if they have to wait too long for pages to load, forget it. Internet users are extremely time sensitive. The high percentage of abandoned shopping carts (as much as a quarter) proves that the payment process can defeat all efforts to motivate the buyer. These are "almost" sales, where sloppiness got in the way.

Getting through some payment procedures confounds even experienced surfers. How many payment options do you provide--anywhere from Paypal to fax your order? Credit cards are convenient, but not always the purchaser's preferred choice. How intrusive are the questions (yes, we know about fraud avoidance)? When the goal is building trust (in both directions), how many "we don't trust you" signals does your site send?

4. How many mind games were played on them

The primary products sold on most web sites are hype and high pressure. Unfortunately, that's not what buyers are looking to buy, and why conversion rates online are so abysmally low. The quality of typical sales copy is aggressive, designed more to trick than inform. It seems like the sales letters were drafted from the same manual.

Aggressive tactics are so widespread that effective, customer-friendly copy can actually stand out. So get rid of the "gotchas." Customers dread them, and then relax once they don't find them. Mind games don't end after the sale's complete. Be alert for delivery, security, and privacy lapses that could creep up after the sale.

5. How well the business has its act together overall

Behind the computer screen are untold elements--efficient links, quick loading, glitch-free credit card processing, the respect for the visitor's time, etc., that reveal the company's priorities. Unless all the parts work with a consistent goal and degree of care the buyer experiences whiplash. Sour notes (small potatoes signals) are trivial in themselves, but break the momentum toward purchasing. They're easily eliminated--once you know to look for them. To learn how, read the helpful articles at my site, http://www.giantpotatoes.com

Give yourself extra points for post-sale follow up. Here's where Internet sellers can shine because of autoresponders and customer-oriented e-mail. Don't just use such tools for making the sale. Use them to build relationships and added value after you get their money.

Dance Your Way to Profits

Courtship is necessary to develop a lasting relationship.

The pace of the dance should reflect the give-and-take necessary to build trust. Don't sell the buyer, court him with a well-paced dance.
